COURSE INFORMATION

FORKLIFT TRAINING & HIGH RISK LICENCING

Tailored to your experience your Forklift Training will be conducted over a minimum of 2 days including both practical and theory training. The small class size of our Forklift Licence Course ensures that students receive maximum time driving the forklift in our simulated warehouse.

Start Training are Melbournes Top Rated Forklift Training Organisation and we are consistently rated highly for customer service, student support and trainer knowledge. All our trainers have extensive real world industrial experience and a strong desire to pass this knowledge onto our students and ensure they get a head start in their warehousing careers.

– Have valid photo identification (click here for details)
– Be a resident of Victoria (or have a valid reason for completing your course in Victoria)
– Have basic English and numeracy skills. Please let us know if you need assistance with reading or writing
– Complete a workbook prior to your forklift licence course
– Students MUST be at least 18 years old to complete this course

On successful completion of this Forklift Licence Melbourne course you will receive a Statement of Attainment; TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck issued by Start Training, and a temporary WorkSafe Forklift Licence; Licence to Perform High Risk Work – LF. This temporary licence needs to be submitted to Australia Post within 60 days of completion of course, along with a fee of $68.80 to WorkSafe Victoria. You will then be sent the five year licence.

Our Forklift Training is conducted at our all five of our main facilities located at Ferntree Gully, Sunshine West, Campbellfield, Laverton North and Carrum Downs. During your training course you will have access to our simulated warehouse and a range of forklifts including electric, gas, reach and counterbalance. During your training you will be taught how to operate a forklift including pre-start checks, maneuvering, loading pallets onto racking and many other exercises tailored to your ability.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We conduct Forklift Training at our Ferntree Gully, Carrum Downs, Campbellfield, Laverton North and Sunshine West training centres.

Our Ferntree Gully facility is located at Unit 3, 1825 Ferntree Gully Road, VIC. You can find our building behind Burdens Plumbtec (the large blue building). We conduct Forklift, Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform and White Card courses at our Ferntree Gully facility.

Our Sunshine West training centre is located at 16 Enterprise Way, Sunshine West and we also conduct Working at Heights, Confined Space, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Sunshine West training centre.

Our Carrum Downs training centre is located at 8 Sonia Street, Carrum Downs and we also conduct Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Carrum Downs training centre.

Our Campbellfield training centre is located at 2 The Crossway, Campbellfield and we also conduct Order Picker, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform, White Card and Yellow Card courses at our Campbellfield training centre.

We have multiple types of Forklifts available for training our students including gas and battery powered forklifts. We also have Order Pickers, Counterbalance Forklifts and Reach Forklifts ensuring that you get maximum exposure to the many varieties of forklifts available.

A food truck visits Start Training’s Ferntree Gully Road facility every weekday (Monday to Friday) at 9.45am. This service offers a wide range of hot and cold food and snacks including sandwiches, pies, fruit, confectionery and drinks.

We have a student kitchen / cafe area with free fresh fruit, free fresh coffee and free biscuits. The kitchen area contains a large fridge, microwaves, toaster and a sandwich press that are free to be used by our students if they wish to bring their own food for the time they are with us.

We have vending machines located in our Ferntree Gully Road facility featuring a selection of drinks and snacks. The drinks vending machine serves Coca Cola, energy drinks and coffee milk amongst others and can accept coins, card (pay pass) and notes ($5 or $10 notes only). We also have a snack machine serving a variety of chips and confectionery which is coin operated only.

There are a number of shops and takeaways within a short distance of our Ferntree Gully facility including bakeries located at the Mountain Gate shopping centre, Red Rooster, On It Burgers, McDonalds, Subway and KFC. If you are unsure about their locations one of our friendly staff can direct you.

At our Sunshine West facility there is a cafe just 50 meters walk from our front door that sells a variety of fresh sandwiches, hot food and drinks at a very reasonable price. You are welcome to keep any food purchases on site within our kitchen facilities and make use of our fridges, kitchen benches and other appliances.

Generally our classes begin at 8.00am each day Monday through to Saturday. Some of our classes begin slightly earlier at 7.30am, you will be informed of your class start time via a booking confirmation and a confirmation SMS sent to you a few days prior to your class.

Yes, we offer ample breaks throughout the day. An initial break is provided at 9.45am at which time a food van visits our Ferntree Gully location. Lunch and other shorter regular breaks are provided throughout the day.

We provide all safety equipment necessary for your course including hi-vis vest and hard-hats where applicable. All you need to bring is a sturdy pair of shoes (no thongs please) and adequate clothing. Please note that during winter months the temperatures within our warehouse can be low, please come with sufficient warm clothing on cold weather days.

Yes, once you have been booked in you will receive an e-mail with a workbook and other materials attached. The workbook should be completed prior to attending to ensure maximum time available for practical training. A hardcopy of the workbook and training materials can be provided on request and mailed out to you with sufficient notice.

Yes, you must complete your workbook prior to attending our class. Failure to do so may result you being denied access to your course on the day and a re-booking fee will be applicable. This is to ensure that students get adequate practical training on the machines and that the class isn’t being held up by those who haven’t completed the workbook.
