Course Overview

This course equips you to deliver training and assessment in the vocational education and training (VET) sector or provide accredited training in the workplace.

Upon completion, you will have developed skills in conducting competency-based assessments, creating learning programs based on national training packages, delivering engaging presentations, training individuals and groups in workplace settings, and addressing language, literacy, and numeracy needs of learners.

Important: This qualification allows you to teach for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or in a workplace environment. It does not qualify you to teach at a university or as a teacher in primary or secondary schools.

Career opportunities:

  • Industry Trainer and Assessor
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) Trainer and Assessor
  • Training Advisor or Training Needs Analyst

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have literacy skills equivalent to Year 11 or Year 12, or Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 4, and numeracy skills at Year 11 or Year 12 level, or ACSF Level 3.

You must also demonstrate vocational competency in the area you intend to teach and assess. Vocational competency refers to a broad understanding and experience within the industry, which may include holding relevant qualifications or units of competency.

Pre-Training Review
As part of your application process, you are required to complete a pre-training review. This review helps our trainers assess your current skills and match you with the right program. Your literacy and numeracy skills will be evaluated, and you may need to undertake a separate assessment.

Personal Learning Requirements
Each qualification at Start Training has specific personal learning requirements, which are the essential skills and capabilities needed to successfully complete the course and prepare for work in the industry.

Please review these requirements carefully and consider any challenges you may face in meeting them. If you need any support, be sure to let us know when applying for your course.

CHECK OUT OUR REVIEWS

Start Training are one of Melbourne’s Highest Rated Training Organisations and we are consistently rated highly for customer service, student support and trainer knowledge, but don’t take our word for it, check out some of our reviews below:

Trainers were excellent in both teaching theoretical and practical driving with unlimited training and re-attempts, massive props to them. However, website is misleading. I applied for my High-Reach Forklift License after finishing my Forklift (LF) License thinking that i would be receiving a (more specific) License as per the website suggests on the course listing. However, I recieved a Verification of Competency (VOC), I called to complain and was told that i would be contacted via email or phone on Monday 18th November concering my complaint however i have yet to recieve a callback since and a my digital copy of the VOC I completed on the day.Hopefully I can get this resolved.

I coordinate a GTO and often have to book in multiple apprentices on short notice. Kyle (Course Consultant) made things so easy for me. I was able to have flexible payment options, the ability to book over the phone or via email, and the flexibility to choose days and times that suited me and my apprentices. I'll be calling up Kyle from now onwards when I need a course for one of my staff.

I attended a first aid and cpr course recently. I was able to enrol on line for a course the next day. Pre training was on line and not difficult. It was the best first aid course I have ever done because the trainer was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and original in his training technique. Thanks Adam Jacobs for making a potentially boring four hours of training really interesting.
